Interested in becoming a part-time Downtown Ambassador? Please review the position’s details and apply below:

  • There are plenty of exising and soon-to-be amazing low-key events and attractions in Downtown Martinsburg that our ambassadors are aiming to highlight. Coordinators will work through out the week to plan the logistics of each gathering.

  • Ideal candidates will be able to organize throughout the week, while also being available as a point of contact during the ambassador gatherings. The team at Main Street will always be ready to guide the coordinators, however coordinators main job will be to lead the tours, walks, and guides as an extension of the MSM team! Ability to work weekends and evenings is a must.

  • Martinsburg has a bunch of cool stuff for visitors and locals alike, but it’s… quirky! For example, the Roundhouse is incredibly rich in history and achitechtural lore, but you have to know when and how to access the pedestrian bridge or the entrance on the other side of the underpass… Or the fact that one of Martinsburg’s sweetest culinary contributions is almost a loca secret with it’s unique name and can only be found over the counter at a historic pharmacy… We’ve got amazing programing from our local library, as well as plenty of new and established businesses found in our downtown, but you’ve got to be “in-the-know” to know… enter ambassadors! From organizing new historic tours, to bolstering existing events, Ambassadors exist to shine the positive light on what our downtown has to offer!

  • The weekly time commitment for the duration of this program is 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $25.00 per hour. (Program End Date is tentatively 10/16/2024)

    All coordinators are considered 1099 Contractors and are responsible for withholding their own taxes.

    Coordinators must be able to be knowledgable in or able to learn local history in order to lead discussions.

    Must be able to walk considerable distances around town.

    Must have excellent organizational skills.

    Loving our hisotoric downtown’s past, present and future is also a requirement! We’re aiming to ignite community engagement, and this position is paramount in that process!
